Frequently Asked Questions
What issues can I bring to therapy?
You’re welcome to bring anything that’s on your mind. People often come to therapy to explore concerns such as anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, identity questions, grief, life transitions, or simply a sense of being stuck or overwhelmed. No issue is too big or too small — if it matters to you, it’s worth talking about.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be helpful if you´re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or wanting to make sense of your thoughts and emotions. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit —many people come to therapy to better understand themselves, improve relationships, or navigate life’s challenges. If you´re curious about how therapy might support you, that’s often a sign it could be a good fit.
What is your approach to therapy?
My approach is primarily person-centred, which means I see you as the expert on your own life. I aim to offer a compassionate, non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace. I also integrate techniques from Gestalt, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and psychodynamic approaches, depending on your needs and preferences.
Do you offer long-term or short-term therapy?
Yes, I offer both short-term and long-term therapy. Some people come for a few sessions to work through a specific issue, while others choose to engage in longer-term exploration. We can discuss what suits your needs and goals best.
Are you a member of any professional bodies?
Yes, I am a pre-accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and adhere to their professional code of ethics.
How often will I have sessions?
Sessions are typically held once a week, on the same day and time where possible. Consistency can support the therapeutic process, but we can discuss what works best for you.
How do I book a session?
You can book a session by contacting me via email or sending a direct message through my website. I’ll get back to you as soon as possible to arrange a time that suits us both.
How do you ensure a safe and affirming space for LGBTQIA+ clients?
I have specialised training in affirmative therapy for LGBTQIA+ individuals and a strong commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful, and non-judgemental space. Your identity, relationships, and lived experience are welcomed and affirmed in our work together.
Do you offer support for LGBTQIA+ identity exploration?
Yes, I provide a supportive and affirming space for exploring LGBTQIA+ identity, relationships, and experiences. Whether you’re questioning, coming out, or navigating challenges related to gender, sexuality, or societal pressures, you’re warmly welcome.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged the full session fee.
How do I prepare for my first session?
There’s no need to prepare anything specific — just bring yourself. You might want to think about what brought you to therapy or what you hope to gain, but it’s completely okay if you’re unsure. We’ll figure things out together, at your pace.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your hopes for the work, and how we might approach things together. There’s no pressure to share anything you’re not ready to — building trust is a process.
What if I don’t feel therapy is working for me?
It’s important that therapy feels safe and helpful. If at any point you feel it’s not working, we can talk about what’s going on and explore alternatives. Your feedback is always welcome, and your autonomy is respected throughout.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not currently accept insurance. Payment is made privately, and details will be provided when booking.
